MGSOC general meetings are held at the:

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church
5631 North Adams Road
Bloomfield Hills, MI

MGSOC General Meetings are free to MGSOC members and MGSOC members are required to wear their Master Gardener badges. Visitors are welcome and pay $5.00 at the door. Members and visitors, please sign in at the welcome table. There are complimentary refreshments of desserts and drinks served at the MGSOC meetings. Additionally, mini-meals of soup or salads may be purchased for $3.00. For those wishing meals, mini-meals are served at 6 p.m, the business meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Our speakers begin promptly at 7 p.m.  Members making or bringing meal portion salads or soups need not pay the $3.00.

    MGSOC - General Meeting – “Heirloom Vegetables" - Mary Gerstenberger

    From Amanda Koran, Committee Chair of Education, below is your invitation to register for Tuesday, July 14th General Meeting  Zoom presentation @ 6:30 p.m. This will also be recorded and posted on our website, as was our last meeting. Please note, attached is a source list for heirloom seeds for you to download and peruse.

    The topic is “Heirloom Vegetables" with our speaker Mary Gerstenberger.

    Mary Gerstenberger is the retired Consumer Horticulture Coordinator for MSU Extension in Macomb County.  She writes the "Vegetable Patch" section for the Michigan Gardener Magazine.  Her degree from Wayne State University is in Biology with her core studies in Botany.  Her experience in gardening began with helping her grandfather on a small seven acre farm and continues today working in her own garden. The "Heirloom Vegetables" presentation will cover the definition of an heirloom, their benefits and drawbacks, and some interesting heirlooms to grow.
